Port of Oran boosts capacity with acquisition of advanced shipping equipment
Coinciding with the 71st anniversary of the glorious liberation revolution, the port of Oran is currently witnessing the delivery of six (06) high-end RTG cargo handling equipment, dedicated to container handling, as part of a comprehensive programme to modernise equipment and enhance the port's logistical capabilities. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to develop the port's infrastructure and upgrade its container handling capabilities in line with the latest international standards, reflecting the Algerian authorities' commitment to improving performance and facilitating the movement of goods and cargo through national ports. With the acquisition of this new equipment, in addition to three (03) modern quay cranes that were previously installed at the port, the Port of Oran has become the first Algerian port to be equipped with container terminals that meet international standards, reinforcing its position as a hub for maritime trade at the national and regional levels. This is in line with the decisions and directives of the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, which aim to develop ports and acquire the latest machinery and equipment in order to increase port productivity, speed up the unloading of ships and reduce waiting times.
